Earthlings at the Ship Croydon

"Earthlings" The Movie for Adults only.

9th September 2012 6pm on wards

The Ship still my favourite Croydon pub

               The Ship is a small pub in the middle of Croydon and a true Croydon landmark, having been virtually unchanged for the better part of nearly a century.

Historically, the earliest brewery records for The Ship date back to 1640! The building, in its basics, is from that date. Here’s something else which is good: it was called The Shippe but has never had any association with the sea or boats. The reason for the name is that shippe was an old colloquial way of writing Sheep. So it was called The Sheep. ........

And of my history It must of been late 1978 after seeing The Dammed in the Greyhound and me a young 20 year old getting beaten up outside Millets opp the ship, Oh how it all adds to the melody of life. Music at the SHIP I remember the smokey nights of Real Beer, Real music,  sawdust and a lively atmosphere. Even the bad times were good,
 But now I choose another way.......

VEGETARIAN / VEGAN FOOD IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE even if you are not eating it, it can Save the planet this dying planet, Save Cruelty, Save suffering as shown in the film EARTHLINGS, promote health, even wealth. Their Lives Your choice.

Your life your Choice.

Check it out on Youtube if you cant see it at the Ship "EARTHLINGS" a hard film to watch.

See you there

Great holidays for all peoples from around the world

Bring your body in to the line it wishes to walk along.

So many people think they can rule their body through diets and pills they are wrong!!
When we take time to listen and to value our bodies and be at peace with our digestive system and give our bodies the nutrition it really enjoys,
we find ourselves coming into Harmony with ourselves.
Your mind should not rule your body your mind needs to be in harmony with your body and Spirit,

Mind, Body and Spirit are a team, treat each part with equal honor!

These holidays or detox days sound great to me, I have not been at this time, but they hold a few of the important values that I hold dear to life.

Friends check out their website           WWW.HARMONY.HR
                       you may well find it to your liking.

A quote from Vesna (from www.Harmony.hr )
''Discover the harmony in your own being.
Embrace it.
If you can do this, you will gain everything,
and the world will become healthy again.''
If you go, send me a postcard I wont be disappointed....................... Paul

Raw food is so easy Cut Toss Serve. Chad Sarno

cabbage avocado salad with hemp and coriander

cabbage avocado salad with hemp and coriander

By Chad Sarno

Serves four

* 6 cups finely-shredded cabbage (mix of purple and green)
* 1/4 cup red and yellow peppers, diced
* 1 1/2 avocadoes, diced
* 3 tablespoons hemp oil (or flax oil)
* 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
* 2 tablespoons red onion or leek, diced
* 1/4 cup hulled hemp seeds
* 3 tablespoons loose coriander leaves
* 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

In a mixing bowl toss all ingredients together, squeezing as you mix to 'wilt' the cabbage and cream the avocado. Serve immediately.

As a variation, add chopped fresh herbs or your choice of diced vegetables. This dish works equally well if you substitute the cabbage for kale, chard or spinach. Note: Toss right before serving to retain crispness.

This recipe appeared in the Spring 2008 issue of Get Fresh! magazine.

New Mexico Wildfire Now a Record-Setting ‘Megafire’

New Mexico Wildfire Now a Record-Setting ‘Megafire’ 216,000 acres

The largest wildfire in New Mexico’s history continues to burn, having already charred an area larger than New York City. Known as the Whitewater-Baldy Fire Complex, the wildfire has become another in a series of “megafires” to torch the American West due to an unprecedented combination of drought conditions, climate change, and alterations in land-management practices. To make matters worse, according to The Guardian newspaper, congressional budget cuts may restrict the federal government’s firefighting efforts during what is widely expected to be a busy wildfire season.

Firefighters work burnout operations at the Gila National Forest. Credit: U.S. Forest Service.

The Whitewater-Baldy Complex is burning in New Mexico’s rugged and mountainous Gila Wilderness, an area with steep terrain that has rendered much of the fire off limits to firefighters. Instead of attacking it from within, firefighters are trying to dig in around it, hoping to slow its spread.
The megafire is the result of a merger of two separate, relatively modest-sized fires. When the two merged in late May, the fire dramatically expanded, burning 70,000 acres in just one day. As of Friday, the fire had burned 216,000 acres, and was only 10 percent contained. More than 1,200 personnel were battling the fire. There have been no fatalities or major injuries

Whole life Food

Gaining that extra smile.
In March at "2EDEN INCREDIBLE LUNCH" we were joined by a lovely lady through the Vegetarian Society who is a "convenience" vegetarian, in other words she enjoyed prepared food.
This convenient type of eating habit which we all indulge in at times, can lead to a weight concern and can develop into dull unhealthy and expensive Vegetarian food.
We know prepared food of all types is generally more expensive, less healthy and more refined more processed, when compared with fresh self prepared and cooked food.
We know vegetarian food is not always healthy, it can be spoilt by over adding sugar, salt, over cooking, frying,etc, etc but we advise healthy.
she wanted to know more, she wanted help with advice while shopping, preparing vegetables, choosing cheeses, storing good food, both cooked and uncooked. She wanted to know menu planning, plate portioning, balancing sweet and sour, dividing savoury and sweets.

She wanted to know how to cook with confidence.
As she was out of our area we connected her with our friends in Redhill who are meeting her needs and providing fellowship and she is gaining the confidence that takes us from the boring B road and puts us all on the A road to life.
Can we help you gain that extra smile?
Cookery on demand if you need it we can supply it.

The Green Union Jack

The Green Union Jack
Something is wrong here and it is the environment.
Let us turn  the UK  GREEN.
How did this come about?
 "The New Green Union Jack symbolises that change; a change in attitude, a positive new green energy ambition, and a new unity. Britain can come together if we focus on our common cause, it's called climate change."
This campaign is for ZERO Carbon, and that includes PETROL. Why not read the article!
Dale today launched a new website www.dalevince.co.uk where he sets out his manifesto for a future free from carbon; "A new era, beyond carbon, driven by a second industrial revolution, fuelled by sustainable energy and completely carbon free, it's a target as well as an ambition - our idea is a world free of man made carbon by 2050. Welcome to ZERO Carbon."

Dale has a new link http://zerocarbonista.com/2009/07/02/the-green-union-hi-jack/ boycott EDF

BK bloomers

It is wrong to inflect suffering or death on animals for reasons of pleasure,
 amusement or convience.
BurgerKing as a company should not be approved as they encourage the killing of calves at 19.5 months
(A) when the poor female could live till 35 years.
(B) BurgerKing state Aberdeen Angus beef as their pride and joy, they should be out cast.
Proof from farmers knowledgeable websites
(A)http://www.britishangus.com/angus-profit.php (first paragraph) compared to standard beef
(B)http://www.thecattlesite.com/breeds/beef/7/aberdeen-angus/overview , (end of second paragraph) also read on to statistics and it gets even sadder when they state how maternal the females are , they lose their calfs at 12-14 weeks.
I cant agree when people say "Not supporting the BK Veggie would hurt far more animals than it would help. Please do not make Burger King regret its attempt to make it easier for customers to choose vegetarian foods."                           Burgerking is selling Veggie burgers to make a profit, not as a favour or it is not a loss leader, public opinion is getting aware that eating red meat ie beef can have cancerous effects on the human body.

One day Cancer UK will acknowledge that instead of presently saying "eat more veg and less red meat" they will say better if you dont eat red meat at all. (http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/healthyliving/dietandhealthyeating/) If Burgerking did not sell a veggie burger many families would not go into burgerking at all because one of the family wanted something Veggie.
We know burgerking and McDonalds are scarey dinosaurs but they will be extinct if they do not change their ways.
Oh dear,   when you support Burger king    thefries are cooked in Fish and Chicken used oil so not suitable for vegetarians (like me) so need to be removed from any reccommendation. I was quite happy with the Veggie food being there as they have their own dedicated cooking vats I read somewhere, prob Vegsoc.org ref.... website. ( http://www.burgerking.co.uk/files/documents/NutritionalInformation_26092011.pdf )

Something to consider
Thanks Paul

Notes from Vegan Outreach

Is “Better” Good Enough?

Girl & rooster
Earlier this year, Matt had the opportunity to address Australia’s Animal Activists Forum (via Skype). Here is an excerpt:
[A]sk yourself – why is it better to be a vegetarian than someone who, say, eats only “free-range” animals. Obviously, eating animals that weren’t factory farmed is better.
But as vegetarians, we don’t make our food decisions based on what is better. We want to make the best choices we can for the animals.
Well, that is exactly how Vegan Outreach looks at advocacy: We don’t want to make things somewhat better. We want to make the best choices we can for the animals.
Thanks so much to all the donors and leafleters who are doing their best for animals every day!
EDITORIAL NOTE I like this item,  there is a lot of pussy footing around the "big boys".
Pussy footing like the Vegetarian Society supporting Burger King what is that all about?
Burger King Fries are not suitable for Vegetarians, trust is important in this world Come on Vegetarian Society I have sent you proof from the Burger king website so PLEASE STOP PROMOTING Burger king fries.
Thanks Paul
Since this note I have had an email from Vegetarian Society saying that Burger King got it wrong it is a typing error that describes their fries as contaminated. I think we need to check on the inside of the shop. keep watching.....Paul

Review of reviews where in the world????

The review of reviews today we find ourselves in Jersey City.
Welcome

First stop Little India,
The area is  Newark Avenue just around John F Kennedy Blvd west and before the junction with County Road 644.
First of our little trinity
Dosa Hut Taste The Difference
777 Newark Avenue.
I like southern India food, not just because my mum was born in Delhi, strange but true.
The taste and the fresh natural ingredients make a great difference. This may be casual dinning but don’t you just love a relaxed atmosphere time to enjoy your food but don’t stay all day........
they are trying to make money.
                                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Salkar no 806  Newark Avenue authentic enough that the workers cant all speak English, try trusting in their recommendations, you know what they eat has got to be good for many reasons.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just up the Avenue at no 809 is Sri Ganesh’s Dosa house, I enjoy the style of Dosa food it looks interesting but there is a lot of air in those rolled Dosa’s and sometimes a little curry. I like the keen  Masala taste so someone tells me I would be at home here. It aint the Taj Mahal but the prices reflect that, after all when you are enjoying a good meal just look at your plate!

Indian food always does well it's blend its spices, colours and tastes is an all time encouragement to vegetarians everywhere.
 So Check out these delights! I do not think you will be disappointed will you?
